Russian Academy of Sciences, Department of Physics Deputy head of support staff, researcher (astronomy and astrophysics)

Region:          Europe

Field:              Science

Profile:     Graduated from Moscow State University, Physical Faculty, Division of Astronomy, PhD. For about 25 years worked in the Institute of Astronomy, RAS, at different positions. For a few years - at the Federal Agency for Science Organisations and since 2016 up to now - in the Russian Academy of Sciences, Department of Physics, combining work in science and organization of science.

Network Activities:     As a first step of my activity here, I consider it to be necessary to collect the most complete information on the problem, and after analyzing it, to draw out directions in which we need to concentrate our efforts, to estimate what the gender ratio might be reached in the “ideal” case, and so on. Now only general statistical data are available, and it is insufficient for understanding all the aspects. So in the near future, I plan to circulate a detailed questionnaire among female colleagues working in astronomical organizations in Russia. In parallel, the issue of other possible events is considered (e.g. creating of a website, etc.).

Among the planned events was also a round table "Women in Astronomy" in the framework of the all-Russian astronomical conference, which was supposed to be held in August of this year, but, unfortunately, due to the coronavirus, now the conference is postponed to next year, so the round table will be held the next year as well.
